Cancellation Policy
Some items in our store may be offered to you as a pre-order and some items may be unavailable due to high demand. This cancellation policy lays out how you can change or cancel these kinds of purchases. 

Pre-orders
When you purchase a pre-order, you are buying an out-of-stock or soon-to-be-available product not yet in inventory. All pre-order promotions will clearly show the release date on the add-to-cart button, on the shopping cart and in the order confirmation email sent to your inbox.

We usually start shipping books the day before release or the day of, depending on when we receive stock.  

All pre-order payments are collected when you place your order.  You can cancel a pre-order that has not yet been shipped to you and we will refund your payment fully. 

If you request a cancellation the day the book is released and we've already shipped you the title, you can't cancel the order, but you can send us a return once the item is delivered.   For cancelations of pre-ordered books, please email us at help@porchlightbooks.com

Back orders

Sometimes demand for a promotion is greater than the stock available and we have to re-order inventory from the publisher.   If the title is readily available, we generally resume shipping within a week.  Titles with low availability can take 2 to 3 weeks.   If your order is taking longer to ship than expected, please email us at help@porchlightbooks.com to get a precise idea of your expected ship date.  Any orders that have not shipped may be cancelled at any time.

Return Policy for Shipped Promotion Orders

Unless otherwise stated, books ordered in relation to a promotion are purchased as non-returnable copies.  These may not be returned, unless we made a mistake. (See “Mistakes” below.)

Mistakes

You may return any type of book (returnable or non-returnable) because of a mistake we made—for example, if we mailed you the wrong book or it is damaged when you receive it. If this occurs, please call 800-236-7323, and one of our Customer Service Specialists will correct this immediately and provide you with a return number. When we receive your return at the “Address for Returns” noted below, we will promptly credit your account for the full cost of the book purchase and shipping.

EU Customers

If you are a resident of the European Union, your right of withdrawal will be available as required by law.  View your order status page for the right of withdrawal button.
